Every one of these lists is flawed because personal preference varies by perspective, intelligence and experience. A perfect example, I have lots of friends who think Will Farrell's movies are drop dead funny. But I saw Old School, Talledaga Nights and Anchorman and I might have found three or four laughs among them.
Different funny for different people.
But this is a good list with a lot of laughs to be had. Lots of SNL with a healthy dose of Python.

French & Saunders, Catherine Tate, Kids In The Hall, SCTV... how can you go wrong when a list includes those. Not enough for my taste, but at least a few.
Oh I get it, they are all foreign!
Jim - I'll be honest, there were a few omissions for me as well. There was a silly little british sketch comedy show called "The Goodies" starring Graham Garden, Bill Oddie and another guy that was brilliant but didn't get a mention.
And was there any Benny Hill?
I think you're right funny is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone have a different favorite.
You sure prefaced it properly! It makes no sense to make these lists, as humour is so subjective. I, for instance, can't stand stand-up comics who swear all the time. But that seems to be a growing trend.
