Anti gay doesn't mean a little airport men's room sex is wrong, does it?

According to CNN:

Republican Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho was apprehended June 11 by a plainclothes police officer investigating complaints of lewd behavior in a men's room at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Minnesota. In recent years, Craig's voting record has earned him top ratings from social conservative groups such as the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America and the Family Research Council.
On August 8, he plead guilty and paid a $500 fine. He now regrets that guilty plea.

I bet he does, he is up for re-election next year and I'm willing to bet this won't help in conservative Idaho.

Again, according to CNN:

In recent years, Craig's voting record has earned him top ratings from social conservative groups such as the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America and the Family Research Council.

He has supported a federal constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, telling his colleagues that it was "important for us to stand up now and protect traditional marriage, which is under attack by a few unelected judges and litigious activists."

In 1996, Craig also voted in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act, which denies federal recognition to same-sex marriages and prevents states from being forced to recognize the marriages of gay and lesbian couples legally performed in other states.

Craig also has opposed expanding the federal hate crimes law to cover offenses motivated by anti-gay bias and, in 1996, voted against a bill that would have outlawed employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, which failed by a single vote in the Senate.
If this is the kind of voting record that gets you elected in Idaho, getting arrested and pleading guilty to trolling for gay sex in an airport men's room is probably a deal breaker with the voters.

Don't you just love the hypocrisy that the Republicans consider "family values."

It totally riles me up these kind of things.

Next you'll hear from all sorts of conservative nutbags that this what Homosexuals do., Cruise for sex in toilets. Just ask that asshat mayor of Fort Lauderdale.

But the truth is, you're only seeing crazy closeted married men in these cases.

All the happy gays have computers and nightclubs to meet "friends".

Mind you, if that cute guy at Starbucks winks at me one more time... who am I kidding? I never go to Starbucks!

Exactly...it's like a bad movie. These guys are fighting a stereotype that they themselves are living. Is it some kind of self-loathing brought about by conservative indoctrination since birth?

What ever it is, nothing makes me happier than watching a mean-spirited bigot hypocrite get what's coming to them.

How long do you think it will take for Craig to enter rehab?

How does one enter re-hab for being a lifelong closeted gay? It don't care what the whack jobs say, gay isn't something to be cured, it is a state of being.

I agree entirely. I was referring to the fact that whenever an elected official is caught with his pant's down, the next statement out his office is that he is entering rehab, Foley for example.

You know, I hate the hypocrisy and the damage these sort of people do. But I honestly do feel bad for them. How much do they hate themselves adn what's inside them that this is how they deal with it?

Makes me seem fairly normal in comparison.

First of all, if you listen to the tape released by the airport, while Sen Craig protests that this is all just a misunderstanding again and again. He becomes increasingly aggitated, towards the end of the tape he is finally at his wits end and says to the officer " it seems that you were soliciting me" Now I am just a stupid liberal democrat but if I did not make a habit of doing things in public bathrooms and someone put their leg next to mine in a stall I think I would yell something like " Hey what the hell are you doing?". I wouldn't consider it a solicitation.
One more point, Sen Craig simply pled guilty to a misdemeanor, jusst like Pres. Bush did for his dui. Maybe he won't resign, maybe he will be appointed the new attorney general. And so the saga continues in the republican party. This is better than most of the late night soaps.

This is typical of what is wrong with politicians the world over. Hypocritical, lying, sleazy, scum bags who couldn't lay straight in bed even if you rammed a red hot poker up their jaxie.

Jim - Yeah, I feel sorry for him to, but I just can't get past the anger that hurts so many others when he votes the way he does.

Deb - Did he do it? I don't know. But there have been rumors about him for years and the speed with which he has been thrown under the bus by colleagues suggests they know that there is more to come if he doesn't get out.

Steph -- You've got politicians buggering people in public toilets too?

I am so completely not interested in this guy. Who cares what he does in a public toilet. From the sound of it, it really could have been a misunderstanding. I mean, it's not like he was waving a 50 dollar bill under the stall partition and saying, "Hey bud, want to come and suck my dick?" All in all, it makes as much difference to me if a polititian is soliciting sex as it does if the barrister at Starbucks is. I was more excited when George Michael got caught in the bathroom with his package in hand...or when Hugh Grant paid a hooker to give him a hummer. In those cases, there was no DOUBT they were up to no good. Give me some real dirt or don't bore me with it...
